Shadowburn is a non-commercial fan project. Everything below made it possible.
Two debts sit above all the others: the world itself, and the open-source cores that let a small team run a piece of it.
None of this exists without the world Blizzard built. Shadowburn is a love letter to Wrath of the Lich King and to everyone who made that era what it was. World of Warcraft, its assets, names and lore are and remain the property of Blizzard Entertainment — we're just borrowing the feeling.

The original open-source WoW server project. Every emulator that came after — the one we run included — traces back to the groundwork MaNGOS laid.

The core that carried the private-server community through Wrath and long after. Countless realms stand on its shoulders, and a lot of what players expect to "just work" was solved there first.

The modular, community-driven WotLK core that Shadowburn's Frozencore build is forked from. Clean, well documented, and a genuine pleasure to build on.
Realms we work alongside — cross-promotion, shared events, and the occasional favour. The list fills in as partnerships are confirmed.
Cross-promotion and shared community events.
Placeholder — partner TBAJoint tournaments and a shared Discord events channel.
Placeholder — partner TBAContent sharing and mutual bug reports between teams.
Placeholder — partner TBAPeople who put in real time before the realm could thank them properly — help, outreach, and keeping the servers paid for.
Fielded new-player questions in Discord around the clock, long before there was a support system to point anyone to.
Got Shadowburn in front of the right communities at the right time — and did it without spamming a single one of them.
Quietly kept the servers, the domain and the build machine paid for through the long pre-launch months.
